Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 September 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written for the way this site actually works — not as a generic template.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Anjan Ghosh Photography (“we”, “us”, “our”), the photography practice of Anjan Ghosh, based in India. For privacy questions, use the contact form and mark the enquiry as relating to privacy, or write from the same email address you used on the site so we can find your record.

2. What this policy covers

It covers personal information collected through this website, including enquiry forms, workshop registration, print and book enquiries, newsletter signup, testimonial submissions, recorded-session access, and standard website logs and analytics. It does not cover other websites we link to, such as Instagram, YouTube, or publications that host our work.

3. Information we collect

We only collect what you give us, plus a small amount of technical data needed to run the site.

Information you submit

  • Contact and collaboration forms — name, email, and the details of your enquiry (which may include phone or WhatsApp number, country, organisation, website, timeline, budget, and message). These messages are delivered by email to our notification addresses. They are not stored in the site database.
  • Workshop registration — name, WhatsApp number, email, location, number of participants, experience level, and any message. Stored so we can follow up and confirm a seat.
  • Print and publication enquiries — name, email, and the details of the request (print or book, size, budget, shipping country, message). Stored so we can quote and fulfil the order.
  • Recorded-session access requests — name, email, location, and photography level, so we can follow up offline and issue an access code after payment.
  • Newsletter — email address and which signup point you used (homepage or footer).
  • Testimonials — name, role, location, quote, and an optional portrait photo. Submissions stay unpublished until we review them.

Information collected automatically

  • Rate limiting — a truncated IP address may be held briefly in server memory so public forms cannot be flooded. It is not written to the database.
  • Analytics — if Google Analytics 4 or Google Tag Manager is enabled in site settings, Google may collect pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and similar usage data. Analytics is not loaded on admin pages, and is switched off entirely when the site is set to hide from search engines.
  • Fonts — typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of serving the files.

What we do not collect on this site

We do not take card numbers, UPI PINs, bank passwords, or other payment credentials through the website. Workshop fees, prints, books, and recorded sessions are paid offline by bank transfer or UPI after we confirm details with you.

4. How we use your information

  • To reply to enquiries and discuss commissions, collaborations, prints, books, and press.
  • To register interest in a workshop, send payment instructions, and confirm a place.
  • To issue and check access to paid recorded sessions and workshop resources.
  • To send the newsletter, if you asked to receive it.
  • To review and, if approved, publish a testimonial you submitted.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam, and understand how the public pages are used.
  • To comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms & Conditions.

5. Legal bases

We process personal information under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable Indian law. In practice that means:

  • Consent — newsletter signup and testimonial submissions.
  • For a specified purpose you asked us to carry out — answering a form, registering workshop interest, fulfilling a print or book enquiry, or unlocking a recorded session you paid for.
  • Legitimate use / legal obligation — keeping records of a sale or booking, security, and responding to lawful requests.

You may withdraw consent at any time (for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter). Withdrawal does not affect processing we have already completed, or records we must keep of a booking or purchase.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

The public site uses a small number of cookies:

  • Recorded-session access — an httpOnly, signed cookie named recordings_access is set after you verify an email and access code. It lasts seven days and exists only so this browser can play paid recordings. It is not used for advertising.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics / Tag Manager may set their own cookies when those IDs are configured in admin SEO settings. There is no separate cookie banner on the site; you can block those cookies in your browser or with a tracking-protection extension.

Admin login uses a separate session cookie that is never set for ordinary visitors. The site does not use advertising cookies or sell browsing data.

7. Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only as needed to run the practice:

  • Email delivery, so form submissions and newsletters can be sent.
  • Hosting and database providers that store the site and its records.
  • Cloud storage and a content-delivery network for images you upload (for example a testimonial portrait) and for the photographs on the site.
  • Google, if fonts or analytics are in use, as described above.
  • Professional advisers, insurers, or authorities when the law requires it.

Couriers receive a name, address, and phone number only when we ship a print or book you ordered. Payment itself happens off-site, between you and your bank or UPI app.

8. How long we keep it

  • Contact emails — in our inbox for as long as the conversation is useful, then according to ordinary email retention.
  • Workshop registrations, print and book enquiries, and access requests — for the booking and a reasonable period afterwards for accounts and follow-up.
  • Newsletter addresses — until you unsubscribe. We may keep a suppressed address so we do not email you again by mistake.
  • Published testimonials — until you ask us to take them down, or we stop using them.
  • The recordings-access cookie — seven days, or until you clear cookies.

9. Your rights

Subject to the DPDP Act and other applicable law, you may ask us to:

  • confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and receive a copy;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • erase information we no longer need (we may retain what the law or a completed sale requires);
  • withdraw consent, including unsubscribing from the newsletter;
  • raise a grievance about how we handle your information.

Newsletter readers can unsubscribe from the link in every campaign, which lands on our unsubscribe page. For anything else, use the contact form. We will need enough detail to find your record, and we may ask you to confirm your identity before changing or deleting it.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may take the matter to the Data Protection Board of India once that forum is available for your complaint, or to any other authority that has jurisdiction.

10. Children

This website is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use HTTPS, access-controlled admin pages, signed cookies for paid recordings, and rate limits on public forms. No website is perfectly secure. Please do not send passwords, full payment-card details, or other highly sensitive data through the forms.

12. International processing

The practice is based in India. Hosting, email, storage, and analytics providers may process data on servers outside India. Where that happens, we rely on the provider’s contractual and technical safeguards, and on the fact that the transfer is needed to provide the service you asked for.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this page when the site or the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top is the current version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy for information collected from then on.
