I photograph across street, documentary, travel and landscape, with a strong interest in people and their relationship with the places around them. I prefer to observe before I photograph, allowing moments and stories to emerge naturally rather than beginning with a predetermined idea.
I’m Arnab Seth, a designer and photographer based in Kolkata. I have spent more than two decades working across design, technology and digital products, a profession that has shaped how I observe, find patterns and pay attention to small details. Photography gives that instinct a different outlet, allowing me to slow down and look at people, places and everyday life more closely.
My photography moves across street, documentary, travel and landscape work, with a strong interest in people and their relationship with the places around them. I am drawn to everyday moments, human activity, changing light and scenes that may appear ordinary at first, but reveal something when you spend a little more time with them.
I prefer to observe before I photograph. Rather than going into a place with a predetermined story, I spend time watching how people move, work and interact with their surroundings. Sometimes the story emerges through a sequence of photographs, sometimes through a single gesture or moment. For me, photography is ultimately about paying attention and staying with something a little longer.
