March 2026 — West Bengal, India
Where survival, labour and pollution meet at the edge of Bengal.
About this series
A Landscape on Fire In many parts of Bengal, fire is not only a symbol of destruction. It is also part of work and survival. Waste, dry vegetation and discarded materials are often burned to clear land or recover something of value. Standing against the evening sky, the worker becomes almost a silhouette. Behind him, the flames rise like a second sun, revealing a difficult relationship between people, land and the environment.
